MUMBAI (ET India Times): India, the world’s largest importer of silver, could import 250-300 tonnes of silver during the quarter, said Prithviraj Kothari, president of the Bombay Bullion Association. “Silver prices are in a comfortable range and people are considering it as a buying opportunity,” said Harshad Ajmera, proprietor with Kolkata-based wholesaler, JJ Gold House. “If one were to take long-term view, even present levels are good for investment in silver. Demand is mostly from the physical side and it is natural because after it reached new highs this year, everybody’s attention is on gold and silver,” said Gnanasekar Thiagarajan, director with Commtrendz Research.

Via Bloomberg:

China reduced export quotas for silver, tin and minor metals, according to a statement on the Ministry of Commerce’s Web site today. The country may export a maximum of 5,387 metric tons of silver next year, compared with 5,670 tons this year, and that for tin at 18,000 tons, down from 18,900 tons in 2011, according to the ministry. The limits for tungsten, antimony, molybdenum, and indium were imposed at 15,400 tons, 59,400 tons, 25,000 tons and 231 tons, respectively. This compares with 15,700 tons, 60,300 tons, 25,500 tons, and 233 tons this year.

Fasten your seatbelts! >>> Het Grondstoffen Rapport h/t Corry
